Kathmandu: Nepal has defeated host Kenya by seven wickets in a first one-day cricket match at Nairobi Gymkhana Club in Kenya on Friday. With this win, Nepal has led 1-0 score in the series of three matches between Nepal and Kenya.
It achieved the 219-run target posted by Kenya in 47.2 overs at the loss of three wickets. For Nepal, Aasif Sheikh hit highest 110 runs off 120 balls with 12 boundaries and two sixes. Similarly, Arjun Saud contributed 61 runs and Gyanendra Malla 24.
Dipendra Singh Airee remained unbeaten on 15 and Rohit Paudel on three. For Kenya, Vraj Patel, Rakep Patel and Collins Obuya took one wicket each.
Elected into bat after winning the toss, Kenya made 218 runs in 48.1 overs losing all wickets. For Kenya, Rakep made 67 runs and Obuya 62. Similarly, Irfan Karim hit 30 and Sachi Budhia 26.
For Nepal, Sompal Kami and Karan KC claimed three wickets each. Likewise, Aadil Alam and Pawan Sarraf took one wicket each.
Nepal is playing its second match against Kenya tomorrow (September 3).
Earlier, Nepal scored 3-2 against Kenya in the T20 international series of five matches.
