Chautara, April 18: A bilateral meeting has been held between the relevant security agencies of China and Nepal regarding the opening of the Tatopani border point.
Deputy Superintendent of Nepal Police, Sindhupalchowk, Ram Kumar Yadav informed that a meeting was held between the representatives of the security agencies on the Nepal side and the representatives of the security agencies on the China side on Monday on border management, crime control and other relevant issues.
In that meeting, he said that Tatopani border crossing will be operated regularly from this May 1, border security and coronavirus infection and security issues have been given priority.
Both sides agreed to strengthen border security including taking precautions and communicating information regarding the spread of Covid19 between the two countries, strengthening the international border security system, being sensitive to crime control and reduction, conducting joint training, patrolling, setting up additional check points as needed, exchanging all information related to border security immediately.
Nepali officials from Sindhupalchok District Administration, Immigration, Security Agencies, Customs Chief and Chinese officials from Nyalam County Administration, Security Agencies, Immigration and other officials were present. The border has not been regular for a long time after the 2015 Gorkha earthquake. Tatopani border point was the busiest trade route between Nepal and China.
However, in recent times, Dhunche-Rasuwagadi-Kerung border point came into operation for trade and transit.
