Kathmandu: Nepal has entered the finals of the sixth edition of Women’s SAFF Championship football. Nepal has succeeded in making it to the finals of the SAFF Championship by defeating India, the winner of the previous five editions.
Nepal defeated India by 1-0 in the semi-final held at Dasharath Stadium in Tripureshwar. Nepal defeated India for the first time in Women’s SAFF Championship.
The goal scored in the first half became the decisive moment for Nepal. Rashmi Kumari Ghising scored for Nepal in injury time of the first half.
In the second half, both Nepal and India tried to score and both teams lost many opportunities. As both teams failed to score, Nepal managed to reach the final with the help of the only goal scored in the first half.
The Nepali team was captained by Angela Tumbappo Subba. Sabitra Bhandari ‘Samba’, the main player of the Nepali team, could not play due to dengue.
Nepal will play the final match against Bangladesh on Monday. Earlier, Bangladesh entered the final by defeating Bhutan by 8-0 in the first semi-final match held today.
