Nepal defeats Laos in the Prime Minister’s Tri-Nations Cup



Kathmandu, March 22: Nepal defeated Laos in the Prime Minister’s Tri-Nations Men’s Football Tournament which started today in the capital. Nepal defeated Laos by 2-0 in the opening match at Dasharath Stadium in Tripureshwar.

Ananta Tamang and Navyug Shrestha scored one goal each in Nepal’s victory. Ananta scored a goal in the first half of the game while Navayug added a goal in the second half of the game. In the 30th minute of the game, Ananta gave Nepal the first lead by scoring a goal through Navin Lama’s pass.

Then Navayug scored in the 56th minute of the game. Nepal’s lead was doubled when he hit the ball from about 35 yards straight into the net. After that, no goal could be scored in the match and Nepal won easily 2-0 against Laos. In the match, Ananta Tamang of Nepal was declared the man of the match.

Three countries including Bhutan and Laos are participating in the tournament along with the host Nepal. The winning team of the competition, which will last until March 31, will receive US$ 5,000, while the runner-up team will receive US$ 3,000. The best player of the tournament will get US$ 500 and the player who will be declared the man of the match will get US$250.

Under this tournament, Nepal will play its second match against Bhutan on March 28. Before that, Laos and Bhutan will play on March 25.
