
Kathmandu, March 24: A Nepal Festival Parade -2025 has been organized in Canberra, the capital of Australia.The event was organized in Canberra with the aim of promoting Nepali art culture, costumes, cuisine and tourism. The Festival Parade gave a glimpse of Nepal in the Australian capital.
As part of the festival held at Commonwealth Park, the Nepali cultural procession started from Garema Place Civic, Canberra at 10:30 am local time and culminated at Stage 88 of the Commonwealth Park.
The procession was accompanied by the presentation of ‘lakhe naach’ and the ‘kumari naach’, the two traditional cultural dances of Nepal, amidst the playing of the ‘Panche Baja’ music. On the occasion, Nepali Ambassador to Australia Chitralekha Yadav, various Nepali organizations in Australia and local Australians were also present in large numbers.
Australian Finance Minister Katie Gallagher, Federal Parliamentarian David Smith, heads of diplomatic missions, Australian Capital Territory State Minister for Multicultural Affairs Michael Patterson and Transport Minister Chris Steele, among the dignitaries, also attended the ceremony where Ambassador Yadav participated as the Chief Guest.
Various cultural programmes, exhibitions depicting Nepali art and culture, food stalls of Nepali food and paintings for children were held in the festival. Non-Resident Nepali Association Australia (NRNA) Australia has been organizing the festival since 2009 as part of a campaign to spread Nepali identity to the world, said NRNA Australia President Anil Pokharel.
Nepali Ambassador to Australia Yadav said Nepalis in Canberra are doing well and the Nepali community has made Nepal and Nepalis feel proud.#nepal #Nepal Festival #rss
