Nepal performs poorly in one-day cricket, Ireland defeats Nepal by 22 runs



Kathmandu, April 3: Nepal ‘A’ performed poorly in today’s match against Ireland ‘A’ under the one-day cricket tournament held at Kirtipur-based TU ground.

Nepal ‘A’ failed to meet the target of 158 runs posted by Ireland ‘A’. Nepal ‘A’ scored 136 runs in 25.3 overs losing all wickets. For Nepal ‘A’, Shahab Alam made 37 runs in 34 balls while Dev Khanal 26, Bashir Ahmed 20 and Rijan Dhakal 12.
Similarly, other batters could not hit double digit runs for Nepal ‘A’.

For Ireland ‘A’, Matthew Humphreys and Liam McCarthy took five wickets and four wickets respectively to win the match. With this victory, Ireland ‘A’ is leading the three-match series.

Earlier, electing to bat first after winning the toss, Ireland ‘A’ was limited to 17 runs in 38.3 overs losing all wickets.

Cade Carmichael of Ireland ‘A’ made 51 runs in 77 balls while captain Neil Rock 39 runs in 32 balls. Similarly, Peter Moor gathered 21 runs, James McCollum and Stephen Doheny 12 runs each.

Ireland ‘A’ made only 14 runs in last five overs losing six wickets.

For Nepal ‘A’, Kamal Airee took four wickets with hat trick while Shahab Alam and Mousom Dhakal two wickets each while Rijan Dhakal one wicket.
