Nepal Police arrests Top Bahadur Rayamajhi

Kathmandu, May 14: Former deputy prime minister and CPN UML leader Top Bahadur Rayamajhi has been arrested in the case of fake Bhutanese refugees scam.

Rayamajhi, who is also a member of the House of Representatives, was arrested on Sunday evening from Pasikot in Budhanilkanth, Kathmandu, according to a police source. He will be brought at Teku police station.

Rayamajhi was absconding after the arrest warrant was issued on May 3. He came to Butwal after returning from a public event in Arghakhanchi and absconded from there.

The district court issued an arrest warrant against Rayamajhi at the request of the police after those who were arrested in the fraud case of turning Nepali citizens into Bhutanese refugees and sending them to America gave a statement that Rayamajhi was involved.

On the same evening, his son Sandeep was arrested by the police from Bhairahawa.

Former Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand and several others have been already arrested on charges of Refugee scam.
