Kathmandu, July 14: Nepal Police has clarified that traffic police officers do not receive any special allowances, incentives or other financial benefits from collecting fines for traffic violations.

In a press statement issued on Tuesday, Nepal Police said there is no legal provision that entitles traffic police personnel to receive additional payments or incentives based on the amount of traffic fines they collect.

The police stated that all revenue collected from traffic fines is deposited directly into the Government of Nepal’s account, and none of the funds are distributed to traffic police officers as personal benefits.

The statement also expressed concern over the publication and circulation of unverified reports, saying that factually inaccurate news can damage the reputation of public institutions, erode public trust and unnecessarily create controversy over administrative processes.

“There is no legal provision for traffic police personnel to receive any additional fees or benefits for collecting fines imposed for traffic rule violations,” the statement said.

Nepal Police urged media organisations and social media users to verify information through official channels before publishing or sharing it, emphasizing the importance of accurate reporting and responsible dissemination of information.
