Kathmandu, Nov 13: Newly appointed Inspector General of Nepal Police (IGP) Dan Bahadur Karki has pledged to meet the aspirations of both the government and the public by leading the Nepal Police with integrity, professionalism, and high morale.

Speaking briefly to the media after receiving the IGP insignia during a special ceremony at the Ministry of Home Affairs today, IGP Karki vowed to strengthen leadership, coordination, and teamwork within the police organization.

“It is the shared responsibility of the government and the police institution to build a highly motivated force—one grounded in integrity and competency—capable of addressing emerging patterns of crime, evolving security challenges, and the rapid advancement of information technology,” Karki said.

“We must work together to meet the public’s growing expectations for good governance.”

Reflecting on the security challenges following the recent Gen Z Movement, IGP Karki noted that the police had ensured there was no security vacuum during the unrest. He highlighted the prompt mobilization of police personnel and swift restoration of law enforcement services as evidence of the institution’s dedication and effectiveness.

Expressing gratitude to the government for entrusting him with the top position, Karki said he was honored to lead the Nepal Police after 28 years of service in the organization.

At the ceremony, Home Secretary Rameshwor Dangal formally presented the insignia to IGP Karki, who succeeds Chandra Kuber Khapung following his retirement after 30 years in service. Karki was appointed as the senior-most officer in the police force.

The event was attended by Chief of the National Investigation Department Tekendra Karki, Additional Inspectors General of Police, and senior officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs. #nepal #police #IG #genz
