Nepal registers over 18,000 lost passports with Interpol

KATHMANDU: The Department of Passport has registered details of 18,771 lost passports of Nepali nationals with the International Criminal Police Organisation (Interpol).

The registration took place as per the Passport Regulations, 2020 through the Interpol branch of Nepal Police.

A total 194 states are members of the Interpol.

Nepal updates the Interpol about lost passports of Nepali nationals.

Following this, Nepal has been regularly updating the Interpol about the matter, according to an annual report related to foreign affairs of Nepal for the fiscal year 2020/21 issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Department has been providing passport service through the district administration office in all 77 districts, 19 area administration offices and 40 diplomatic missions in foreign countries and issued 6,806,913 machine readable passports for the FY.
