Women cricket: Hong Kong defeats Nepal by 9 wickets



Kathmandu, Nov 16: Hong Kong has defeated Nepal by 9 wickets in the second cricket match played at the Hong Kong Cricket Club, Hong Kong in the four nations T20 cricket tournament.

Chasing a modest target of 57 run, Hong Kong managed to score the required run losing just 1 wicket in 9 overs.

Hong Kong’s Natasha Miles top scored 30 runs while Shanzeen Shahzad scored 20 runs.

Earlier, after winning the toss, Nepali team scored just 56 runs in 18 overs.

Rabina Chhetry scored the highest 25 runs for Nepal. She scored 25 runs facing 30 balls. Apart from Rabina, other players could not score runs in double figures.

Sita Rana Magar scored 9 runs while Roma Thapa scored 7 runs. Nepal lost opener Puja Mahato as the first wicket. Puja got out with four runs in eight balls.

On the bowling side, Hong Kong’s Lakra Sahar took three wickets while Ruchitha Venkates took two wickets. Similarly, Betty Chan, Mariko Hill and Kari Chan took one wicket each.

Nepal is also under pressure to win the match against Hong Kong to play the finals of the tournament. In the first match on Wednesday, Nepal lost to Tanzania by 27 runs.

Along with the host Hong Kong, Nepal, Tanzania and Japan are participating in the four-nation tournament.

Nepal and Japan remain pointless in the group. Both Tanzania and Hong Kong teams have garnered 4 points each.
