Kathmandu, July 4: Nepali youth cricket team has defeated host Malaysia by 221 runs in the final match under ACC Men’s Under-16 East Zone played at Bayuemas Oval, Pandamaran, Malaysia.
Chasing a mammoth total of 253 runs, Malaysia managed to score just 31 runs losing all wickets in the 14.5 overs.
Nepali bowlers Abhisekh Tiwari grabbed 5 wickets, Santosh Yadav dismissed 3, Sagar Gaire and Ashok Dhami dismissed 1 each players.
After winning the toss Nepali team decided to bat first. Nepali batsman Naren scored 112 runs facing 89 balls. He hit 2 sixes and 10 fours, and remained not out.
In the 35 overs match, Nepali team posted 252 runs with the loss of 8 wickets. Other than Naren, Niraj Kumar Yadav scored 47 runs, Suryanshu Koirala 18, Santosh Yadav 26, Ashok Dhami 11, Dipu Kumar 5, Abhisekh Tiwari (c) 4, Pratik Bhattrai 1 and Aashish Luhar (wk) 2 runs.
