Dang, March 24: The Nepali Congress has decided to form a government under its own leadership in Lumbini province. Nepali Congress and CPN (Maoist Centre) are claiming to be the Chief Minister from the new alliance in the province. The meeting of the Congress Provincial Parliamentary Party has decided to form a government under its own leadership.

The meeting of the parliamentary party held in Lumbini on Friday morning decided to advance the process of forming the provincial government under the leadership of the Congress.

The Maoist Centre is now in the government under the leadership of CPN UML Chief Minister Mr Leela Giri. In the Provincial Assembly, Nepali Congress is in the second place with 27 members.

After Friday’s meeting, Congress Parliamentary Party Leader Dilli Ram Chaudhary said that since the Maoist Centre had already led the government in the previous alliance, Nepali Congress should naturally get the leadership of the province. However, the Maoist Centre does not want to give up the leadership of this province easily, saying that Lumbini province is its base area.

On Thursday, a meeting of the Maoist parliamentary party was held but due to internal disputes regarding the withdrawal of support to the government, the matter did not enter the meeting.
