Nepali Congress welcomes July 1 agreement on forming new government



Kathmandu, July 3: The Nepali Congress (NC) has welcomed the agreement reached between the party and CPN (UML) on July 1 for formation of a national consensus government.

A meeting of the NC Central Works Execution Committee on Wednesday welcomed the agreement which, as the meeting said, aims to promote the nation’s interests, prevent corruption, accelerate the pace of development endeavors, and establish political stability, according to the party’s Chief Secretary Krishna Prasad Paudel.

The meeting expressed its commitment to contributing to the implementation of the agreement reached between NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba and CPN (UML) Chair KP Sharma Oli to amend the constitution in a way that further strengthens the federal democratic republic system and inclusion.

Besides the meeting that took place at the Budhanilakantha-based private residence of party President and former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba concluded that it would be appropriate for incumbent Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ to pave the way by for formation of a new government under the leadership of the UML Chair Oli in accordance with Article 76 (2) of the Constitution.
