Nepali Congress wins mayor in Fidim, Fungling

PANCHTHAR: Nepali Congress (NC) candidate has emerged victorious as mayor of Fidim municipality in Panchthar. NC candidate Mitra Prasad Kafle received 9,855 to become the mayor. His close contender Prithvi Lawati of CPN-UML secured 9,280 votes.

Likewise, CPN (Maoist Centre) candidate Radhakrishna Neupane registered his victory as a deputy mayor with 9,036 votes.

His arch-rival Jagat Prasad Thapa magar of Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) only obtained 5,643.

NC and UML won equal four ward chairpersons in Fidim, the Office of Returning Officer informed.

Likewise, Taplejung district has witnessed completion of vote counts in all nine local levels.

Nepali Congress (NC) has registered victory in four local levels. CPN-UML has secured its win in three while CPN (Maoist Centre) in two local levels.

According to the results made public, NC candidates have secured win as mayor in Fungling municipality and as chairpersons in Mikwakhola, Meringden and Sirijunga rural municipality.

Likewise, UML registered its win in Aathrai Triveni, Sidingwa and Pathivara Yangwark rural municipality. CPN (Maoist Centre) has won Faktanglung and Maiwakhola rural municipality, the District Returning office informed.

Similarly, NC has clinched vice-chairpersons in Faktanglung and Maiwakhola. UML has won deputy mayor in Fungling municipality and vice-chairpersons in Aathrai Triveni and Pathivara Yangwarak rural municipality.

Maoist Centre has won vice-cahir in Mikwakhola, Sidingwa and Sirijunga rural municipality. CPN (Unified Socialist) has won vice-chair in Meringden.

Out of 61 wards of nine local levels, UML has registered its win in 30 wards, NC in 15 wards, Maoist in 10 wards, Unified Socialist in two wards and Federal Limbuwan Forum in one ward. Independent candidates have registered victory in four wards.

Similarly, Nepali Congress has registered its victory in five out of seven local levels of Dadeldhura district. NC candidates have emerged winners in two municipalities and three rural municipalities of Dadeldhura district. Dadeldhura is the district where incumbent Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has won all House of Representative (HoR) elections since 2048 BS.

In previous local level election, CPN (UML) had won two and CPN (Maoist Centre) secured one local level here.

UML has lost all local levels in the district this time while CPN (Maoist Centre) has won two local levels.

NC has registered its victory in mayor, deputy mayor and 10 ward chairpersons in Amargadhi municipality, district headquarters of Dadeldhura. NC candidates Dilliraj Joshi and Parbati Jhukal have won mayoral and deputy mayoral posts in Amargadhi.

Likewise, NC candidate Bharat Badayar Joshi has become mayor of Parshuram municipality while Maoist Centre’s Bimala Mahata won deputy mayoral post here. NC has secured its win in majority of ward chairpersons.

NC has also emerged winner in Ganyapdhura, Nawadurga and Bhageswor rural municipalities of the district. Maosit Centre has won Alailal and Ajayameru rural municipalities here.

NC candidate Basanti Pal secured her position as vice-chair in Ajayameru rural municipality.

NC has won 29 out of 52 wards while Maoist Centre has secured its win in 14 wards, UML in three wards, CPN (Unified Socialist) in two wards, BP in two wards and independent candidates in the district.

NC had won only 16 wards in Dadeldhura in previous round local election.

The Nepali Congress has registered its victory in the post of mayor and deputy-mayor of Halesi Tuwachung municipality in Khotang district.

Bimala Rai has been elected mayor of Halesi Tuwachung municipality by securing 6,317 votes. Her closest rival Khadendra Kumar Rai of the CPN (UML) received 5,966 votes, said election officer, Sangeeta Neupane (Dhungel).

Similarly, Ramesh Raut of the NC has won the election to the post of deputy-mayor of the municipality. He collected 5,934 votes while his nearest contender, Amber Rai, of the CPN (Maoist Centre) got 5,661 votes.

Out of 10 local levels in the district, Bimala has become the first woman to be elected as mayor in the district. Out of 11 wards in the municipality, candidates of the Nepali Congress have been elected as chairpersons in all wards except three wards.

CPN (UML) candidate Geeta Bhat is elected the deputy mayor. Bhat secured 10,288 votes and her closest contender Tika Bahadur Resmi of the CPN (Maoist Center) bagged 8,057 votes.

Ruling alliance candidates win local election in Banepa and Namobuddha

Candidates of the ruling five-party alliance have won the local level election in Banepa and Namobuddha municipalities of Kavrepalanchok district.

Shanti Ratna Shakya of the Nepali Congress, common candidate of the ruling party alliance, has been elected the mayor of Banepa municipality in the local level election held on May 13. He secured 13,793 votes. His nearest competitor Ratnakush Ranjitkar of the CPN (UML) bagged 11,835.

Bimala Sapkota Dahal of the CPN (UML) has won the election for the deputy mayor post in Banepa municipality. She secured 11,992 votes and her closest contender Raghubar Chau Pradhan of the CPN (Unified Socialist), the common candidate from the ruling alliance, got 10,515 votes.

Kunsang Lama of the Nepali Congress, a common candidate of the ruling alliance, has been elected the mayor of Namobuddha municipality by securing 11,211 votes. His closest contender Rajan Bhurtel of the CPN (UML) bagged 5,822 votes.

Similarly, ruling alliance’s candidate Ratna Bahadur Lama of the CPN (Maoist Center) has been elected the deputy mayor. He secured 8,187 votes while his nearest contender Samjhana Lama of the CPN (UML) got 6,543 votes.
