Nepali Women’s Cricket Team fails to make it to ACC T-20 Asia Cup



Kathmandu, June 10: Nepal has been defeated by Thailand in the quarterfinal match of the ACC Women’s Premier Cup cricket tournament. With this loss, Nepal is out of the ACC T20 Asia Cup qualifying race.

In the match held today at the Bayuemas Oval Cricket Stadium in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Nepal was defeated by Thailand by 56 runs.

Chasing the target of 131 runs set by Thailand, Nepal was bowled out for 74 runs for the loss of seven wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

Rubina Khatri contributed an unbeaten 20 runs for Nepal. Similarly, Soni Pakhrin scored 15 while Samjhana Khadka and Sita Ranamagar added 12 runs each, and no other players could score in double figures.

Thailand, having won the toss and opting to bat first, scored 130 runs for the loss of four wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

Nanapat Khoncharooyankai of Thailand contributed an unbeaten 62 runs. Similarly, Fanita Mai scored 26 runs, Chanida Suthiruwang made 16, and captain Narumoi Chaivai scored 8 runs.

In bowling, Nepal’s Kavita Kunwar, Rubina Chhetri and Riya Sharma each took 1 wicket.

Before this, in a match held in Malaysia this month, Nepal was defeated by China and was also eliminated from the Asian Games qualifiers. The Asian Games are being held in Japan this year. #nepal #rss
