Kathmandu, March 13: Minister for Women, Children and Senior Citizen, Nawal Kishor Saha Sudi, has said Nepal had made a remarkable progress in realizing general equality and empowerment of women and children.
Minister Sudi said it in his address to a UN event relating to women empowerment in New York, USA on Wednesday. Gender equality is essential for promotion of sustainable and just society, he added.
“Nepal’s constitution has ensured 33 percent representation of women at federal and provincial levels while 40 percent at local level. Nepal is committed to gender equality and women empowerment,” Minister Sudi shared.
The Minister further explained the schemes carried over by the government for the empowerment of women and children like financial inclusion, strengthening of social security, gender responsive budget and bridging of gender digital divide.#nepal#political #rss
