NEPSE index fell by 16.55 points, transaction amount still high

KATHMANDU: On the last trading day of the week, the NEPSE index has decreased by 16.55 points while the share trading amount has set a historic record. A total of 221.53 million shares worth NRs 9.89 billion were traded today.

After falling on Thursday, NEPSE has dropped to 2,425.29 points. Similarly, the Sensitive Index declined by 4.32 points to close at 442.06 points.

The non-life insurance group’s index rose the most at 3.38 percent on Thursday. On the same day, the indices of production and processing increased by 2.82 percent and microfinance by 2.14 percent while the rest of the group declined.

Shares of Sagarmatha Insurance and Suryodaya Microfinance rose by 10 percent, Support Microfinance 9.98 percent, Arambha Chautari Microfinance 9.97 percent, Prabhu Life Insurance 9.97 percent, Everest Insurance’s founder shares 9.78 percent and Sarathi Nepal Microfinance rose to 9.47 percent.

The banking group’s index fell the most at 2.34 per cent, followed by business at 0.17 percent, hotels at 1.27 percent, development banks at 1.72 percent, hydropower at 1.21 percent, finance at 1.55 percent, others at 0.57 percent, life insurance by 0.24 percent and Mutual Fund by 1.79 percent.

The share turnover on Thursday is still high. In the previous trading, less than 20 million shares were traded. Nepal Life Insurance has the largest share in the transaction amount. Shares worth Rs. 576.89 million were traded.
