
Kathmandu, June 17: Nepal suffered a dramatic loss to the Netherlands in their opening match of the T20 International Tri-Nation Series, held at The Grange Cricket Club in Scotland. The game ended in a tie after 20 overs, followed by two tied Super Overs. The Netherlands eventually clinched victory in the third Super Over.
In the first Super Over, Nepal scored 19 runs, setting a target of 20. The Netherlands matched the score with 19 runs, leading to a second Super Over. Batting first again, the Dutch scored 17 runs, and Nepal managed to tie it once more with 17 runs of their own.
However, in the third Super Over, Nepal collapsed under pressure. Captain Rohit Paudel was dismissed on the first ball, and Rupesh Singh played two dot balls before getting out on the fourth delivery. Nepal failed to score even a single run. The Netherlands needed just one run to win and sealed the match with a six on the first ball.
Chasing a target of 153, Nepal ended their innings at 152/8, sending the match into the Super Over. Rohit Paudel top-scored for Nepal with 48 runs off 35 balls, Kushal Bhurtel contributed 34 runs, and Rupesh Singh added valuable 19 runs.
Nepal needed 5 runs off the last ball to win, and Nandan Yadav hit a four off Kyle Klein, tying the game.
For the Netherlands Daniel Doram took 3 wickets, Vikramjit Singh claimed 2 wickets, Kyle Klein, Ben Fletcher , and Jaacq Luyendyk picked up one wicket each.
Netherlands Innings:
Batting first after winning the toss, the Netherlands posted 152/7 in their 20 overs. Teja Nidamanuru scored a team-high 35 runs off 37 balls, including a six. Likewise, Vikramjit Singh scored 30 off 29 balls with two sixes while Saqib Zulfiqar scored 25, Michael Levitt 20, and Max O’Dowd 19 runs.
For Nepal, Sandeep Lamichhane took 3 wickets, Nandan Yadav grabbed 2, Kushal Bhurtel and Lalit Rajbanshi took 1 wicket each. #nepal #cricket
