KATHMANDU: Increasing urbanization is eroding Newari settlements in Kathmandu valley. Similarly, the earthquake of 2015 badly damaged the original, historical and archeological heritages of the valley. The contribution of Newari community in the history of Nepal is incomparable.
The Kathmandu Valley of historical and archeological importance is still enlivened by Newari art, culture, language and lifestyle. The settlement, language and art have attracted the attention of the world. We have tried to capture in the picture the Newar settlement of the valley which is standing despite the various hindrances of nature and man-made.
With this in mind, the photo-journalists of News Agency Nepal (NAN) have taken pictures of Khokana, Bungmati, Kirtipur, Thecho, Siddhipur, Lubhu and Patan in the valley.
