Kavrepalanchok, Sept 15: The district health office, Kavrepalanchok, has asked subordinate local health offices to not allow transfer of the health workers who have completed the employee integration process until dengue is contained. The office acted on the direction of the Ministry of Health and Population in this regard following an outbreak of dengue across the country especially in Tarai districts.
“This measure means to help control the disease and prevent its spread as transfer of health workers from one district to another can spread the disease. So we have written to subordinate health offices in this regard,” said Doctor Narendra Kumar Jha, chief of the district health office.
The Ministry on September 11 had written to concerned authorities at central, state and local levels not to allow transfer of those health workers and doctors who have completed the integration process until next notice until dengue is contained.
Likewise, the Ministry has also asked them not to approve ordinary leave except for maternity, study and bereavement leave.
Dengue was detected in the district in August-end. So far, six people have been infected with the disease in the district. They are receiving treatment at Teku and Dhulikhel hospitals, said Kamalesh Mishra, public health inspector at the office.
Health workers’ teams have been mobilised to all health institutions in the district alongside dengue test kits, said Jha.
