Kathmandu, July 14: The state-owned fuel supplier Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has decided to resume the nationwide distribution of the standard 14.2-kilogram LPG cylinders, replacing the temporary arrangement introduced earlier this year.
In a statement, the NOC said the distribution of the full-sized cylinders will resume across the country from Asar 31, 2083 (July 15, 2026). Under the revised arrangement, consumers will be able to purchase a 14.2 kg LPG cylinder at the retail price of Rs. 2,060 per cylinder.
Previously, in an effort to ease supply management, the NOC had decided to distribute only 7.1 kg half-sized cylinders beginning Falgun 29, 2082.
According to the corporation, the decision to restore the standard-sized cylinders was made after gas loading operations at various Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) bottling plants and refinery hubs improved, ensuring a more stable supply. The NOC also cited strong consumer demand for the full-sized cylinders.
The corporation clarified that both 14.2 kg and 7.1 kg cylinders may remain available in the market simultaneously until all half-sized cylinders already in circulation are fully withdrawn. Consumers have been advised to carefully verify the cylinder’s weight and selling price before making a purchase.
The corporation urged consumers not to stockpile LPG unnecessarily and to purchase gas only according to their daily household needs, as supplies remain adequate. #nepal
