Kathmandu, Feb 1: The Non-Resident Nepalis Association (NRNA) Macau has requested the government to arrange a legal channel to send money from Macau to Nepal.

The NRNA Macau submitted a five-point memorandum to Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ on Tuesday and urged him to set up a remittance company at the initiative of the government.

The NRNA Macau has said that Nepali nationals working in Macau are forced to use informal channels like Hundi as there is no legal remittance company to send money. NRNA Macau has also requested the government to solve the transit visa problem in Hong Kong.

With no direct air service from Nepal to Macau, Nepali workers are bound to get transit visa in Hong Kong. As a result, the NRNA Macau has requested for a direct air service from Nepal to Macau. This will make travelling of Nepali workers to Macau easier, while also bringing in tourists from Macau to Nepal.
