Kathmandu, April 27: The federal parliament has been informed about the arrest of Nepali Congress lawmaker Maya Rai.
In the House of Representatives meeting on Sunday, Deputy Speaker Indira Ranamagar informed that lawmaker Rai was arrested by the police over the charge of cooperatives fraud.
District Police Range, Kathmandu had written to the HoR, sharing information that Rai was held for investigating of her involvement in the case relating to cooperatives fraud and organized crime. The case is related to the fraud on Swarnalaxmi Multi-purpose Cooperatives Ltd in which its proprietor Gitendra Babu Rai is also implicated.
