Parties agree to resume parliamentary business

Kathmandu, Aug 22: The national political parties in the Federal Parliament have agreed to draft a term of reference of a committee to be formed for the probe gold smuggling issue.

A meeting of the top leaders of the national political parties held at the Prime Minister’s residence on Monday decided to form a task force to draft a ToR of the probe committee.

The committee members include Subas Chandra Nembang of CPN (UML), Ramesh Lekhak of Nepali Congress and Hit Raj Pandey of CPN (Maoist Centre).

President of Rastriya Swatantra Party Rabi Lamichhane said that the parties have agreed to prepare the draft of the ToR by Tuesday.

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ had summoned the meeting of the national parties to find out ways to end deadlock in the parliament.

The UML was obstructing the parliament for long demanding the formation of a probe committee. NC leader Lekhak shared that agreement was held to resume the parliamentary business.

PM Prachanda, Deputy Prime Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha, NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba, UML chairman KP Sharma Oli, RSP President Lamichhane and other politicians were also present at the meeting.
