Kathmandu, Oct 14: The movement of people and vehicular traffic is gradually increasing in Kathmandu Valley with the conclusion of the Bijaya Dashami festival. The people’s movement and traffic had decreased since October 10, the seventh day of the 10-day Dashain festival, the main festival of Nepalis.
Today also, people are seen travelling to their relatives’ homes to receive the Dashain tika and jamara from elders. So there is increased movement of people and vehicular traffic on the street, said Superintendent of Police Nawaraj Adhikari, the spokesman for the District Police Range Kathmandu.
According to SP Adhikari, there is more traffic on Kathmandu’s roads today compared to the last few days.
Chief of the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, Deputy Superintendent of Police Bharat Bahadur Bohara, said no major road accidents were reported in the Valley during the Dashain period.
“Compared to the previous years, there were no major traffic accidents in Kathmandu Valley during the Dashain period this year. This is good news for us. We are pleased that people got to celebrate the festivities without any consternation,” he said.
The number of vehicles as well as of people has increased, as people who had left Kathmandu for their homes to celebrate the country’s biggest festival have also started returning back to Kathmandu. RSS #nepal
