Birgunj, Feb 17: Regular import of petroleum products via pipelines has begun from India’s Motihari to Amlekhgunj in Bara. The Madhes Regional Office of Nepal Oil Corporation in Amlekhgunj has confirmed that the import of petrol and kerosene has commenced through the pipeline after the completion of the Intra-national Petroleum Pipeline Expansion project.

Pralayankar Acharya, Chief of Nepal Oil Corporation’s Madhes Province Office in Amlekhgunj, stated that the entire expansion of the petroleum pipeline has been finished, and the regular import of petroleum products through the pipeline has started recently. “Petrol and kerosene have already been imported through the pipeline,” Chief Acharya mentioned. “Now, we are officially distributing the imported petrol from the pipeline to depots in major cities across the country.”

As part of the pipeline expansion project, two petrol tanks with a capacity of 4,100 kiloliters, two transmix tanks with a capacity of 250 kiloliters, 24 fully automatic loading way-refillers for petrol transportation, a pump house, and a laboratory have been constructed at the Indian Oil Corporation’s depot in Amlekhgunj. Additionally, the project included the upgrade of the ‘Fire Fighting System,’ the ‘OWS System’ for water and oil separation, and the PMCC Cell.

Likhita Infrastructure was assigned to complete the construction of the entire infrastructure by 2023. Chief Acharya mentioned that the pipeline expansion work was finalized only a few days ago due to various reasons. Furthermore, the Indian Oil Corporation has built two transmix tanks for storing mixed fuel (both petrol and diesel) and a firewater tank with a capacity of 3,000 kiloliters for protection within the depot.

Upon the completion of this project, the diesel storage capacity at the Amlekhgunj depot will be 24,840 kiloliters, and the petrol storage capacity will be 16,630 kiloliters. #NOC #nepal #petrol
