Birtamod, Nov 12: A life-size statue of national luminary Phalgunanda was unveiled in Shibasatakshi municipality-9 in Jhapa amidst a programme on Saturday.
The statue has been built at the Chillagadh Dham that is situated on the bank of the Kankai River and it was unveiled commemorating the 139th Phalgunanda Jayanti, the birth anniversary of a renown religious reader from the Kirat community.
Chillagadh Dham Religious and Tourism Development Committee Chair Shishir Tumbapo said the structure was built at a cost of Rs five million in recognition of the contribution of Mahaguru Phalgunanda to the promotion of non-violence and overall welfare in the society. Of late, Chillagadh Dham is Jhapa is being developed as a common religious site for the Kirats and Hindus, it is said.
