Pickup van plunged into Trishuli River, 3 missing

CHITWAN, Nov 26: Three persons have gone missing after a pickup van carrying a patient from Pyuthan to Kathmandu fell into the Trishuli River.

The pickup van (Lu 1 Cha 9731) fell into the river at Trishuli at around 5.30 am on Thursday at Ichchakamana of Chitwan village municipality ward no. 4.

Mukunda Bahadur Rokka, 38, of Jhimruk rural municipality Ward No. 1 of Pyuthan was injured in the accident. Mukunda’s wife Jamuna, 33, sick daughter Jinisa, 15, and pick-up van driver Surya KC, 23, are missing, said DSP Surya Thapa, the District Police Office, Chitwan.

The injured Mukunda has informed the police that he came out after swimming in the water. He is undergoing treatment at the College of Medical Sciences and Teaching Hospital in Bharatpur, Chitwan.

According to police, the pickup van fell into the Trishuli River about 60 meters below the road. Police said that the pickup van could not be located.

The teams of Nepal Police and Armed Police Force are searching for the missing persons, said DSP Thapa.
