PM KP Oli hold meeting with taskforce on TRC

KP Sharma Oli

Kathmandu, July 23: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has initiated the consultation on Transitional Justice Bill (TRC) with the taskforce formed for facilitation.

Prime Minister Oli has called UML chief whip Mahesh Bertaula, Maoist leader Janardan Sharma and Congress leader and Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak for discussion.

In an address to the House of Representatives recently, PM Oli promised to speed up the TRC bill with broader consultation. The TRC bill is still in the parliamentary committee on Law, Justice. Major parties have been trying to sort out the differences, particularly the grave human rights violation during 10-year maoist insurgency.

The CPN (Maoist Centre) has been advocating for mass amnesty to all perpetrators and providing reparation for conflict-affected people.  However, CPN UML, Nepali Congress and civil societies have been demanding for justice to all conflict-era victims who were killed, tortured or forced to disappear.  #nepal #TRC
