PM Oli confers degrees to 657 students at BPKIHS



Dharan, Nov 11: In the 13th convocation ceremony of BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS), held today in Dharan, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli conferred degrees to 657 students.

The students who graduated belonged to MBBS, BDS, MD, MS, MDS, DM, MCh, and BSc Nursing programs from batches spanning 2010 to 2017, as well as BSC Nursing, BMLT, BMIT, APS, and PhD programs from 2012 to 2018. They received their degrees from the institute’s Chancellor, Prime Minister Oli.

The event was attended by India’s academician Prof. Dr. Jyotirmoy Pal as the chief guest, along with the Co-Chancellor and Minister of Health and Population Pradip Paudel, among other dignitaries.

The institute also awarded various prizes to outstanding students.

PM Oli announces distribution of Sickle Cell medication

Likewise, Prime Minister Oli announced plans to bring sickle cell medication produced and tested in neighboring India and distribute it to patients in Nepal. The disease is more prevalent among Nepal’s Tharu community.

He further emphasized that nothing in the world is impossible to discover with honest and dedicated effort. He encouraged the newly graduated doctors to be prepared to distribute sickle cell medication.

Referring to the ancient roots of health science in Nepal, where sage Charaka pioneered it, he expressed the government’s commitment to focus on preventive healthcare and accessible treatment options. He also affirmed the government’s dedication to increasing student quotas in Nepal’s health institutions and enhancing governance and effectiveness in the health sector. #oli #nepal
