PM Shah concludes consultations with lawmakers from all provinces

Kathmandu, April 4: Prime Minister Balendra Shah on Friday concluded a series of group discussions with members of the House of Representatives, wrapping up consultations with lawmakers elected from Gandaki Province.

The Prime Minister had initiated the consultations on Monday, holding meetings with representatives from Karnali, Sudurpaschim, Lumbini, Madhes, Bagmati and Koshi provinces before concluding with Gandaki.

As in previous sessions, Friday’s discussions focused on development priorities and current political issues. According to the Prime Minister’s communication facilitator, Surendra Bajagain, the meeting centred on infrastructure development in Gandaki Province, major projects, and the immediate needs of the public.

During the interaction, the Prime Minister sought suggestions from lawmakers elected under the First-Past-The-Post (FPTP) system regarding plans that could be implemented promptly in their constituencies.

Lawmakers raised concerns over road infrastructure, drinking water supply, tourism promotion, and several incomplete development projects. They also called for a special budget to upgrade road networks connecting the provincial capital, Pokhara, with other districts, along with the modernisation of the agricultural sector.

Responding to the concerns, Prime Minister Shah assured that the government would prioritise both public grievances and development needs. Bajagain said the Prime Minister’s Secretariat, in coordination with relevant ministries, would review the issues and take necessary steps for implementation.

The Prime Minister had earlier held similar consultations with lawmakers from other provinces. Such direct engagement is expected to help address policy gaps and practical challenges that have hindered development projects. #nepal #balen
