Police launch ‘Online Complaint Registration System’

IGP Dan Bahadur Karki

Kathmandu, May 20: Nepal Police Headquarters has introduced a new digital complaint registration system that will allow citizens to report crimes and incidents directly through a mobile application from anywhere in the country.

The new platform, called the Citizen Assistance and Grievance Management Online System, was formally launched during a programme in Kathmandu on Tuesday by Dan Bahadur Karki.

According to Nepal Police, the system aims to make police services more accessible, efficient and technology-driven while strengthening coordination between citizens and law enforcement agencies.

Speaking at the launch event, IGP Karki said citizens across the country will now be able to file complaints and report incidents from their homes or any location at any time through the Nepal Police mobile application. He expressed confidence that the digital platform would help reduce criminal and anti-social activities by encouraging greater public participation and strengthening community policing.

Under the new mechanism, users must first download the Nepal Police mobile application from the Play Store. After installation, users will receive a One-Time Password (OTP) via email for verification before creating a username and password to securely access the service.

A major feature of the system is that complainants will be able to track the status and progress of their complaints directly through mobile notifications. According to police officials, users will receive updates regarding actions taken on their complaints as well as ongoing investigation and implementation procedures.

The application also allows citizens to upload supporting evidence in multiple formats, including photographs, videos and written documents while filing complaints. Police authorities said the digital platform has been developed in line with the government’s 100-point governance reform action plan aimed at modernising public services and improving institutional transparency. #Nepal
