Police seize smuggled goods worth Rs. 5.9 million in Nawalpur

Gaidakot, May 19: District Police Office Nawalpur has seized illegally imported goods worth around Rs. 5.9 million from a truck in Devchuli Municipality.

According to Police Deputy Superintendent and Information Officer Anil Pandit, the goods were recovered from a truck (Province 03-001 Kha 3826) travelling from Butwal to Narayanghat at Rajahar in Devchuli Municipality. Police said the items had allegedly been smuggled into the country without customs clearance.

The seized goods include 700 Air Bud units without bills or invoices, 1,680 mobile phone screen protectors, 205 smart watches, 68 mobile handsets, 65 pairs of Nike shoes, 374 pairs of slippers, and 7,000 waterproof mobile phone pouches.

According to DSP Pandit, the operation was carried out following a special tip-off regarding illegal smuggling activities aimed at evading customs duties. Police have sent the confiscated goods to Maheshpur Customs Office for further legal action. The truck and its driver, Sajendra Machhamasi of Suryabinayak Municipality-8, Bhaktapur, have also been taken into custody for further investigation. #Nepal
