CM Karki claims good governance, reform

Biratnagar, Feb 14: Chief Minister of Koshi Province, Hikmat Kumar Karki, has said the province government had carried out several activities, leading to governance reform and good governance in the last seven years.

It has been seven years the country got federal structure. CM Karki made this claim while responding to the queries raised by lawmakers in the zero hour and special hour of Koshi Province Assembly meeting on Friday. The province structure is learning by doing since its establishment, he said, pledging continuous cooperation with parliament to give it a regular business.

He argued that Koshi Province government was successful in making necessary law, policy and work procedures to intensify development works and make effective public services.

According to him, since its establishment, Koshi Province posted over Rs 96 billion capital spending. A reconstruction fund of Rs 400 million was set up for mobilizing it in disaster response and relief works.

During these seven years, the province government was able to make 63 laws, 31 regulations, 17 directives and 77 work procedures.

The CM also shared that establishment of the offices of Province Public Service Commission, of Planning Commission, and of Investment Board were other achievements. The province government collected Rs 2.83 billion in revenue from transport sector alone.

Under the people’s housing scheme, a total of 7,284 houses were built by the government, while efforts were on to bringing in over 60 projects from the investment conference. The road was blacktopped in 608 km stretch.

Compared to the last year, the province’s income increased by 25 percent, he said.#nepal #political #rss
