KATHMANDU: The Prachanda-Madhav faction of Nepal Communist Party (NCP) has claimed the authority of the party before the Election Commission as per Articles 43 and 44 of the Political Parties Act. However, their demand is that the Commission should update the previous decision to remove KP Sharma Oli from the party.

After the Commission refused to update the details of the party registration book as per the decision of the majority central committee member to remove Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli from the post of party Chairman and elect Madhav Kumar Nepal as Chairman, the Prachanda-Madhav faction on Tuesday claimed the NCP’s authority as per Articles 43 and 44 of the Act.

Leaders including Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda and Madhav Kumar Nepal had reached the Election Commission on Tuesday carrying a 19-page petition to submit their demands.

The Prachanda-Madhav faction has demanded that the commission rectify its earlier mistake and update its old details, even though the petition filed with the Commission on Tuesday said, “Let’s resolve the dispute under sections 43 and 44 of the Political Parties Act 2073 BS.”
