Rukum East, Jan 21: Coordinator of the Nepali Communist Party (NCP), Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, has said that accelerating development in Rukum East district is his top priority.
Addressing a gathering after filing his nomination for the House of Representatives election from Rukum East constituency No. 1 on Tuesday, Dahal assured the people that he would work to fulfill their expectations. The election is scheduled for March 5.
Prior to filing his nomination, Prachanda sought blessings from the families of martyrs and pledged to realize the aspirations they had envisioned.
Recalling that he had contested the 2064 BS elections from Rolpa—one of the base areas of the People’s War—Dahal expressed satisfaction at getting the opportunity to contest from Rukum East, another key base area of the decade-long armed conflict.
“Now, I will work to end corruption and ensure social justice, along with development, in close coordination with the people of Rukum and Rolpa,” he said.
During the event, former district chair of CPN-UML, Top Bahadur Oli, along with several other leaders, quit the UML and joined the Nepali Communist Party.
Newly inducted leader Oli said they would support Dahal in the upcoming elections to ensure his landslide victory, emphasizing that such a win would contribute to the development and prosperity of Rukum East. #nepal #election
