Kathmandu, Nov 28: Minister for Health and Population Dr Sudha Gautam has said that the present government’s major task is to strengthen the institutional system of the country, in addition to holding the general elections.
Inaugurating the National Annual Joint Review (FY 2081/82) organized by the Ministry on Friday, she said that the government was formed with a mandate to eradicate corruption and end injustice.
Pointing out the need to improve the index of mental health, migrant workers health and the health index of four provinces (Lumbini, Madhes, Karnali and Sudurpaschim, she said the programs should be implemented effectively in the four provinces where the health index is weak.
Minister Gautam said that the progress report for the past year was good, saying that 72 percent of health institutions had made physical progress while spending had improved to reach 80 percent.
Health Secretary Dr Bikash Devkota, said that it was a challenge to implement the program effectively in the face of resource cuts. He said that there was 25 percent duplication of claims by hospitals in the Health Insurance Board.
Health Secretaries of seven provinces presented their progress reports at the program. The programme reviewed the progress and challenges of the past fiscal year while outlining the way forward for the new fiscal. #nepal #rss
