President appoints Niroula, Pandey as SC judges, amb to China, US

Kathmandu, Nov 10: President Ram Chandra Paudel has appointed Nripa Dhwoj Niroula and Nityananda Pandey as judges of the Supreme Court (SC).

According to the Office of the President, the Head of State made the appointments today. Earlier, the Parliamentary Hearing Committee on November 8 unanimously endorsed the nominations of Niroula (the chief judge of the Patan High Court) and Pandey (the chief judge of the High Court, Tulasipur) as the SC judges.

Spokesperson for the Office of the President, Shailaja Regmi Bhattarai, said the President, on the recommendations of the Judicial Council, appointed the two SC judges in accordance with Article 129 (2) of the Constitution.  As per constitutional provisions, following the approval of the recommendations, the President shall appoint the SC judge(s).

Likewise, President Paudel has appointed Prof Dr Krishna Prasad Oli as the ambassador to the People’s Republic of China. Similarly, Lok Darshan Regmi has been appointed the ambassador of Nepal to the United States of America (USA). They both are designated as resident ambassadors.

President made the appointments on the recommendation of the Council of Ministers.The appointments were made in accordance with Article 282(1) of the Constitution, the Office of the President said in a press statement today. #president #court #ambassador
