President Bhandari worship at Pashupatinath Temple

Kathmandu, Feb 18: On the occasion of Mahashivratri, President Bidya Devi Bhandari performed worship and ‘darshan’ at Pashupatinath Temple. After the worship, President Bhandari received ‘Prasad’ from Ganesh Bhatta, the main Bhatta of Pashupatinath Temple.

Earlier, when President Bhandari came to the Pashupatinath temple premises, she was welcomed by Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Sudan Kirati, Member Secretary of the Pashupati Area Develoment Fund Dr. Milan Kumar Thapa, Treasurer Narayan Prasad Subedi, members of the council, executive director and other staff members.

On the occasion of Mahashivratri, there is a tradition of worshiping and visiting Pashupatinath temple. Until evening, millions of devotees still queue up to visit the temple.

All the four doors of the Pashupatinath temple will be open till 7 am on Sunday, said Rebati Raman Adhikari, spokesperson of the Fund. According to him, all the four doors were opened from 3 o’clock this morning.

This year, Shankaracharya of Gobaddhan Math of India along with Nischalananda Saraswati came to Pashupatinath Temple with 5,000 sadhus, according to the Fund. Five thousand security personnel and four thousand volunteers have been deployed in the Pashupati area on the occasion of Mahashivratri.
