Kathmandu, July 17: President Ram Chandra Paudel has appointed senior advocate Ramesh Badal as the Attorney General.
President Paudel has appointed Badal as the Attorney General on the recommendation of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli. According to constitutional provision, President appoints the Attorney General on the recommendation of the Prime Minister.
Badal has already served as the Attorney General for nearly four months during the tenure of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli from 2077 Chait to 2078 Ashad BS.
The Attorney General, the legal advisor to the government, leads the government lawyers who prosecute and defend governmental cases.
Badal, who is well-versed in labor law, was previously affiliated with the General Federation of Nepalese Trade Union (GEFONT), a labor organization supported by the UML for a long time. Before being appointed Attorney General, he was the Head of Law Department of CPN UML.
