
Kathmandu, Feb 27: President Ramchandra Paudel has inaugurated the 2152nd Gyalpo Lhosar festival celebrations. The Gyalpo Lhosar is the New Year of Himalayan Indigenous Sherpa Community.
President Paudel inaugurated the Gyalpo Lhosar festival by cutting Phemar (a dish of Sherpa community) amidst a programme organized at Sheetal Niwas today.
On the occasion, he expressed the belief that festivals like Gyalpo Lhosar would contribute to further strengthen national unity by fostering mutual harmony and tolerance among all Nepalis of different ethnicities, languages, cultures and rituals.

The Head of State mentioned that Nepal is rich in different castes, languages, cultures and religions, and each ethnic group has different festivals with their own characteristics.
Stating that Sherpa community has its own uniqueness, he said Sherpa and Himalayan Indigenous communities have played remarkable role to strengthen the country economically through tourism and their own business giving continuity, protection and promotion to language, religion, art, culture and tradition of the Himalayan region.
