Kathmandu, March 21: President Ram Chandra Paudel has called on all stakeholders to fulfill their responsibility of nation-building as mandated by citizens through the recent House of Representatives elections held on March 5.
Addressing a समारोह at the Office of the President, Shital Niwas, marking the 8th anniversary of the Madheshi Commission, President Paudel highlighted the important role played by the Madheshi community in movements for civil liberties in the country.
He noted that such movements were driven by the goals of freedom, equality, social justice, good governance, development, prosperity, and national unity. “The need of the hour is to acknowledge people’s aspirations and work towards nation-building,” he said, urging stakeholders to deliver on the public mandate.
The President also praised the significant contribution of the Madheshi community to Nepal’s progress and expressed confidence that the Madheshi Commission would continue to play an active role in protecting identity and rights.
On the occasion, Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Anil Kumar Sinha said the diverse language, culture, art, and history of the Madhesh region are a matter of national pride. He expressed hope that the Commission would introduce concrete programmes to support marginalized groups, including women and disadvantaged communities.
Similarly, Chairperson of the National Human Rights Commission Nepal, Tap Bahadur Magar, emphasized the need for the government to ensure greater participation of the Madheshi community in implementing programmes that promote cultural and linguistic rights.
