Kathmandu, Jan 8: Prime Minister Sushila Karki and Chairperson of the CPN-UML, KP Sharma Oli, held an extensive discussion lasting nearly four hours on Thursday.
According to the Prime Minister’s Secretariat, the meeting and detailed deliberations took place at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar from 11:00 am to 2:30 pm.
The talks primarily focused on the general election scheduled for March 5. UML Chair Oli expressed concern over election preparations, the overall political environment, and security arrangements.
In response, Prime Minister Karki assured that the government has already made all necessary preparations and urged political parties to participate in the election with confidence, the Secretariat said.
During the meeting, Chair Oli also inquired about the health condition of Prime Minister Karki’s husband, Durga Subedi. On the same occasion, Prime Minister Karki expressed satisfaction that the CPN-UML has remained actively engaged in election-focused activities despite the changing political circumstances. She also thanked the party for successfully holding its general convention and for continuing its political activities even under challenging conditions.
In the course of the dialogue, Chair Oli conveyed his firm belief that the UML would not boycott the election if a conducive environment is ensured. The meeting is being viewed as a significant political engagement in the context of the upcoming election. #nepal #kpoli #sushila
