Prominent role of youths in climate justice stressed



Kathmandu, June 14: The two-day United Nations World Indigenous Youth Conference-2026, organised by the Youth Federation of Indigenous Nationalities (YFIN), Nepal and National Youths Council concluded today.

Discussion and interaction was held on various issues related with indigenous nationalities and youths as well as experiences were exchanged, shared President of YFIN-Nepal, Kiran Shrestha.

He mentioned that discussion was held focusing on United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous People, programmes of UN Bodies, participation of indigenous youths in global forum and concerns of indigenous people of Nepal.

The conference focused on the issues of making youths’ role prominent in climate justice, food security, protection of bio-diversity and environment conservation, preparing Global Youth Declaration and Action Plan.

Representatives of different organisations working in the field of indigenous people from different places of the country put forth their views on rights of the indigenous people, regional and developmental challenges, rights to self-determination and role of youths in indigenous movement, among others. #nepal #rss
