Kathmandu, Aug 2: The government has declared a public holiday on Sunday, August 4, to mark the Bhoto Jatra festival.
In a press statement issued on Friday, the Ministry of Home Affairs announced that the public holiday will apply to all three districts of the Kathmandu Valley: Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, and Lalitpur.
The Bhoto Jatra celebration will include the Bhoto exhibition of Rato Machindranath, scheduled to take place on Sunday at Jawalakhel of Lalitpur.
The Machindranath chariot has already reached in Jawalakhel on Friday evening. According to the religious belief, the Bhoto Jatra festival will fall on fourth day of arrival of the chariot at Jawalakhel.
A high level of dignitaries, including President will attend the ceremony.
