Research prerequisite for development, good governance’



Kathmandu, June 14: Research experts have said academic research contributes to the development of education, supports country’s sustainable development and promotes establishment of good governance and transparency.

In a two-day national conference of researchers held in Bhaktapur, the experts further argued research on multifarious issues such as education, health, agriculture, society, service delivery, technology and environment help identify existing gaps and challenges in the given fields. They also viewed the academic rigour further helpful to address problems.
The event was organised jointly by the Nepal Philosophical Research Center (NPRC) and the Researchers’ Society.

According to the area experts, such initiatives are capable of guiding the government entities, private and all the stakeholders concerned to pursue appropriate policies, implement need-based programmes and make informed and evidence-based decisions. Building an atmosphere conducive to research is imperative.

In their observation, the pace of country’s socio-economic development will accelerate provided that scientific and evidence-based researches are prioritized.

Senior researcher Dr Dasharath Neupane, Dr Janardan Ghimire, NPRC Chair Dr Tej Bahadur Karki, NPRC Research director Dr Deepak Mahat, NPRC founder Dr Krishna Prasad Dhita, Atharva Business College principal Dr Hiralal Shrestha, Dr Maheshwor Prasad Yadav, Dr Mala Kharel, and Dr Lata Ghimire were among those addressing the concluding session of the conference.

Dr Ghimire expressed his concern that various researches on irregularities within the State, national necessities and other relevant topics were gathering dust in libraries. He suggested the State that it reaped benefits from the academic investigation.

According to Dr Mahat, the nations which that have accorded much priority to the research have experienced speedy developments.

The event was attended by over 50 PhD and Post Doctor degree holders from multiple universities. #Nepal
