Kathmandu, Aug 4: An autobiographical book titled ‘Jeevan Sundar Chha or Life is Beautiful’ of Major General Dr. Ramindra Chhetri (Retired) of Nepal Army has been launched amidst a special ceremony at the Army Officer’s Club on Saturday.
Nepali Army Chief of Staff (CoAS) General Prabhu Ram Sharma, Dr Ramindra himself, editor of the book Ram Chandra Phuyal, journalist Tikaram Yatri unveiled the book and presented their thoughts about Dr Ramindra, his contribution in Nepal Army and struggles in life.
During the ten-year armed conflict, on 11th Bhadra 2060 BS, Dr Ramindra was injured when the then rebel Maoist fighters shoot at him, but survived luckily with multiple injuries. However, he had to bear spinal cord injury, and forced to live in a wheelchair. He was considered one of the best think-tank and strategist of the Nepal Army. He was also the former Director General at National Cadet Corps, Nepal, and Director of Research and Development at Nepal Army.
Phuyal said that the book was published by covering the ups and downs in Chhetri’s life from his 40 years of service in the army. He mentioned that the author’s honesty is reflected in the autobiography like the title of the book, “Life is Beautiful.”
Journalist Yatri said that Chhetri’s autobiography will be an inspiring work for those who are disappointed with life. In the book, the author has given an example of how life can be made beautiful with positive actions no matter how difficult it may be.
CoAS General Sharma recalled the active and creative nature of Chhetri since his service in the army. He said that his honesty, eloquence and activity are admirable.
Writer Chhetri said that the contribution of his ancestors to the state, his childhood, his experiences while serving in the army and the ups and downs in life after he became physically disabled were covered in his autobiography. “Life doesn’t always run in the same rhythm”, he said, “If my experience inspires the reader, I consider myself successful.”
