Rinku Kumari’s death: Eight arrested



Siraha, Feb 23: Police have arrested eight persons in connection with the gang rape and suspicious death of Rinku Kumari Sada, 17, from Bhagawatipur of Nawarajpur rural municipality-1, Siraha.

Eight persons who had involved in the attempt to hush the incident and settle the case with reconciliation and those witnessing this plot were taken under control for investigation, according to Senior Superintendent of Nepal Police, Shantiraj Koirala. He is also the coordinator of the investigation committee.

If their involvement to hush the crime was proved, further action would be proceeded accordingly, SSP Koirala added. The adolescent girl was abducted and raped by three youths when she was going to toilet from home on February 9. She had shared information that she was gang raped.

Later, a ‘panchayat’, meeting of bigwigs in locality, was held in the village to settle the case. Later on February 12, she was found hanged at her home.

Although the Area Police Office, Lahan had initiated the investigation on abetment of suicide, the Madhes Province Police Office intervened the case under its investigation with the news that the girl had become a victim of the gang rape.

Last Thursday, the victim’s family filed complementary allegations against eight persons, including those five persons holding ‘panchayat’, on various four headings- murder attempt, rape, hostage taking, and reconciliation under pressure.

The victim’s dead body has been taken to BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Dharan, for postmortem. But the report is yet to be received, SSP Koirala shared.#nepal #Police #rss
