Parbat, July 12: Floods in Modikhola, which flows through Kaski and Parbat, have blocked the Nayapul-Birethanti-Ghandruk road.
Heavy rainfall has been taking place since this morning in Kimrung, Annapurna Rural Municipality-11 of Kaski, causing landslides at various places and flooding in the Modikhola.
The road connecting Ghandruk has been completely closed as the flood has washed away a road section near Seuli Bazaar, the border of Annapurna Rural Municipality-8 and Ward No. 10.
Similarly, the restaurant and house of local Deepil Gurung in the same place have been completely washed away, while Jagan Pun’s restaurant has also been damaged.
The houses of locals along the riverbanks under Annapurna Rural Municipality-7 of Kaski are at high risk of flooding, said Ward Chair Bharatman Gurung.
Hundreds of vehicles headed for tourist villages like Ghandruk and Landruk have been stranded due to the road closure. Similarly, domestic and foreign tourists who have come to visit the Annapurna Circuit have also been affected.
Police have stated that mobility will be affected for some time as there is no possibility of opening the road immediately. #nepal #rss
